Morse hasn't had much luck against Mar Vista recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Tigers will head out to face off against the Mariners at 4:00 p.m.
Morse saw some tournament action on Tuesday. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Olympian.
Morse got a good showing from Logan Curtis, who tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, Rey Hernandez was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those doubles were his first of the season.
Meanwhile, Mar Vista entered their tilt with Hoover on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Cardinals 11-1.
Mar Vista let ANTHONY SANCHEZ and JAKE LESLIE run wild. SANCHEZ got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while LESLIE got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those two RBI gave SANCHEZ a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of DOMINIC PARRA, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Mar Vista always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They are 2-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Morse's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Mar Vista, their victory bumped their record up to 5-6.
Mar Vista's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Morse hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .319. It's a different story for Mar Vista, though, as they've only averaged .247. Will they be able to contain Morse's hitters?
Morse came out on top in a nail-biter against Mar Vista in their previous meeting on March 7th, sneaking past 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
