Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Whitney

Whitney had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Folsom Bulldogs, sneaking past 7-5. The Wildcats have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bulldogs, too.

Brady Estes made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Whitney's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 9-10 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Whitney let Mason Harris and Bryce Farris run wild. Harris went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI, while Farris got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI. That's the most runs Harris has posted since back in March.

Whitney now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Folsom, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-16.

Whitney will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bulldogs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
