Statesboro got their first taste of in-conference action on Thursday and they started things off strong. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Brunswick Pirates 3-1. Surprisingly, this marked the Blue Devils' third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Statesboro moved to 2-7 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Brunswick, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 7-3.
