The Mountain View Spartans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Gunn Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Mountain View's favor as the team sits on six straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Gunn has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
Last Friday, Mountain View was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 55-49 to Milpitas.
Despite their loss, Mountain View saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Mikayla Kim, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Kambria Conover-Emmert, who scored five points.
Even though Gunn has not done well against Palo Alto recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Gunn blew past Palo Alto 45-23. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Gunn has posted yet this season.
Mountain View's defeat dropped their record down to 12-4. As for Gunn, their win bumped their record up to 5-9.
Mountain View came up short against Gunn in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 49-42. Can Mountain View avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
