It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the First Baptist Saints had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed by the Eagles on the road to the tune of 62-14. The victory was just business as usual for First Baptist, who after 11 games remain undefeated this season.
Hunter McCoy continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 259 yards and six touchdowns while completing 79.2% of his passes, and also rushing for 81 yards and two touchdowns. McCoy has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last eight times he's played. Another player making a difference was Alijah Cason, who picked up 115 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Temple Christian's loss came despite strong showings from Nathan Williams and Joseph Waldo. Williams rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown on only six carries, while Waldo rushed for 25 yards and a touchdown. Williams really tore up the turf during one magnificent 72-yard run.
First Baptist's victory bumped their record up to 11-0. As for Temple Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.
