Hoggard fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Scorpions on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 78-67 to the Scorpions. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (55), Hoggard still had to take the loss.
Despite the defeat, Hoggard got a solid performance out of Jaylen Herring, who scored 22 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Herring has scored all season. Josiah Gillespie was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, West Brunswick took a serious blow against the Buccaneers on Tuesday, falling 77-45. West Brunswick has struggled against the Buccaneers recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
This is the second loss in a row for Hoggard and nudges their season record down to 11-8. As for West Brunswick, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-12.
Hoggard beat the Trojans 72-59 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was West Brunswick's K'Veon Griffin, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Hoggard still be able to contain Griffin? There's only one way to find out.
