In what's become a running theme this season, Camarillo gave their fans yet another huge victory on Saturday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 70-41 victory over Franklin. Given Camarillo's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 138th, while Franklin is ranked 312th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Camarillo's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Christa Contreras, who scored 27 points along with nine rebounds and six steals. Contreras hasn't dropped below two steals for 13 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Emerson Martin, who scored 15 points along with eight steals and six assists.
Simi Valley suffered their biggest loss since November 29, 2023 on Friday. They were beaten by Oak Park 78-39. Simi Valley was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-24.
Despite the loss, Simi Valley got a solid performance out of Sahasra Anne, who scored nine points.
Camarillo is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. As for Simi Valley, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-14.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Camarillo hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 57.8 points per game. It's a different story for Simi Valley, though, as they've been averaging only 22.4 points per game. The only thing between Camarillo and another offensive beatdown is Simi Valley. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Everything came up roses for Camarillo against Simi Valley when the teams last played on January 10th as the team secured a 60-29 win.
