Basketball Game Preview: Frontier Titans vs. Highland Scots

Frontier is 4-0 against Highland since September of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Frontier Titans will head out to square off against the Highland Scots at 6:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Frontier has five straight wins, Highland has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Frontier will head into Thursday's game hoping to keep the good times rolling: they had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 40-point drubbing they dealt Garces Memorial on Thursday. Frontier simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Garces Memorial 70-30. The Titans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 26 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Frontier to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alexis Tinnin, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. What's more, Tinnin also racked up three blocks, the most she's had since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Rizelle Copeland, who went 7 of 15 on her way to 20 points and five boards.

Frontier smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in 14 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Highland played a tough game on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 55-26 defeat at the hands of Independence. While losing is never fun, the Scots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 934th, while the Falcons are ranked 445th).

Frontier pushed their record up to 14-6 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 27.2 points. As for Highland, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10.

Everything came up roses for Frontier against Highland in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, as the team secured a 76-5 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Frontier since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
