Red Rock Central was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from 10th to seventh in Southern Minnesota. Earlier in the week, the Falcons defeated Sleepy Eye 16-14.
Wabasso added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Martin County West, 22-14. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Rabbits.
Springfield's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Carter Erickson threw for 76 and 1 touchdown and Cooper Scheffler had 63 yards receiving. On the ground Justin Macht chipped in 109 yards. Nick Runck helped Springfield's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 13 yards.
Macht provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Tigers lost to Minnesota Valley Lutheran. Macht's favorite target this week was Scheffler, who caught 4 passes for 63 yards.
Macht was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 109 yards on 22 carries as Springfield lost to the Chargers. Teammate Runck added to the ground attack by rushing for 50 yards.
Springfield's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Tigers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Erickson has thrown for 615 yards and 5 touchdowns this season, while Scheffler has 14 catches for 238 yards.
The top two teams in Southern Minnesota will face off this week when first place Wabasso takes on second place St. Mary's. Wabasso defeated the Mavericks last week, while St. Mary's beat Cedar Mountain/Comfrey.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Knights take on Joe Kemp's team. St. Mary's has allowed 53 points this season, while the Rabbits have given up 63. The Knights allowed 14 points last week as they topped the Cougars.
Red Rock Central and the Indians played the most contested game in the league this week, with Red Rock Central eventually emerging with a 16-14 victory.
