Eastlake has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Olympian Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
On Wednesday, Eastlake came up short against Mater Dei Catholic and fell 39-30. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Eastlake in their matchups with Mater Dei Catholic: they've now lost four in a row.
Meanwhile, Olympian had to suffer through a rough 62-34 loss at the hands of Bonita Vista. While losing is never fun, Olympian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 389th, while Bonita Vista is ranked 151st).
Eastlake has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-14 record this season. As for Olympian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-13.
Eastlake won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting last Wednesday, slipping by Olympian 53-52. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Olympian's Asia Darcuiel, who scored 36 points along with two steals. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Eastlake still be able to contain Darcuiel? There's only one way to find out.
