Antioch has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Freedom Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Antioch and the Falcons are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
While Antioch couldn't quite beat the Lions on Tuesday, the three-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 26-point defeat they were dealt on Friday. Antioch fell just short of the Lions by a score of 38-35. While losing is never fun, Antioch can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 456th, while the Lions are ranked 188th).
Meanwhile, Freedom scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 68-53 win over Pittsburg. The win was just what Freedom needed coming off of a 61-39 loss in their prior game.
Antioch now has a losing record at 11-12. As for Freedom, their win bumped their record up to 9-13.
Antioch came out on top in a nail-biter against the Falcons when the teams last played back in January, sneaking past 36-33. The rematch might be a little tougher for Antioch since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
