Basketball Recap: Ceres Snags Seventh Win in Last Eight Games

If Grace Davis wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Ceres, they should've done a better job of containing Lilly Staggs. The Ceres Bulldogs came out on top against the Grace Davis Spartans by a score of 61-54 on Monday thanks in part to Staggs, who posted 19 points and five steals. Her evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 19 points.

Sovannary Carter was another key player, putting up 13 points and eight rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted eight or more boards the last three times she's played.

Ceres has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.6 points over those games. As for Grace Davis, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 21-4.

Coming up, Ceres won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Beyer at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Beyer is on a seven-game streak of home wins, Ceres a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Grace Davis, they will also get right back to it: they'll take on Pacheco at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pacheco will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Grace Davis surely won't give up without a fight.
