The Nash Central Bulldogs struggled with assists on Tuesday (the SouthWest Edgecombe Cougars had ten more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Nash Central took a 57-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of SouthWest Edgecombe. Nash Central has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Stephen Howard, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Howard pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Markell Jasper, who scored eight points.
It was another big night for Xander Brown, who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 18 points and 3 assists for SouthWest Edgecombe. Blayde Hinton was another key contributor, scoring five points along with two steals.
Nash Central's loss dropped their record down to 2-12. As for SouthWest Edgecombe, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-6.
Nash Central will look to defend their home court on Friday against Northern Nash at 7:30 p.m. Northern Nash is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 58.9 points per game. As for SouthWest Edgecombe, they will head out on the road to square off against Washington at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Washington is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
