Two dominant signal callers in Darius Bailey and Howard Fisher iv are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The DeSoto Eagles are on the road again on Friday and play against the Wylie East Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. DeSoto knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten matches -- so hopefully Wylie East likes a good challenge.
DeSoto had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They breezed by Harker Heights on the road to the tune of 50-10. Considering DeSoto has won nine contests by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Marvin Duffey and Deondrae Riden jr. were among the main playmakers for DeSoto as the former rushed for 113 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries and the latter rushed for 111 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries. Duffey's longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards. Jamari Laye got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Wylie East entered their tilt with Tyler Legacy with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Wylie East came out on top against Tyler Legacy by a score of 23-14 on Friday. Given Wylie East's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 87th, while Tyler Legacy is ranked 215th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Michael Henderson iii was the offensive standout of the matchup as he rushed for 74 yards and two touchdowns.
DeSoto's win bumped their record up to 10-0. As for Wylie East, they pushed their record up to 10-1 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home.
