At the plate, Evan Jones was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Hunter Meyer was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Corona entered their tilt with Roosevelt on May 1st with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They were the clear victors by a 20-0 margin over the Mustangs. Considering the Panthers have won 13 games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Billy Carlson and Anthony Murphy did most of the damage at the plate: Carlson went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple, while Murphy got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jesiah Andrade, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Los Osos has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Corona, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 26-2.
Los Osos couldn't quite finish off Corona in their previous meeting back in February and fell 2-0. Can the Grizzlies avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
