Meanwhile, East Carter had to endure a nine-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over Neelyville on Thursday. The Redbirds' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Calleigh Miller made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. Miller was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Addie Kearbey was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Zelma Cooley, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
East Carter was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Naylor now has a losing record of 1-2. As for East Carter, their record now sits at 2-12.
Everything went Naylor's way against East Carter in their previous meeting back in September, as Naylor made off with an 11-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
