The Boron Bobcats will head out on the road to face off against the Kern Valley Broncs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Boron suffered their biggest defeat since November 13, 2023 last Tuesday. They suffered a tough 48-22 loss at the hands of Bishop Union. Boron was down 39-13 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Meanwhile, Kern Valley entered their tilt with Mammoth with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Kern Valley really took it to Mammoth for the full four quarters, racking up a 61-21 victory on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Kern Valley has posted yet this season.
It was another big night for Ava Elliott, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Leenah Troller was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Boron has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season. As for Kern Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.
Boron suffered a grim 46-22 defeat to Kern Valley in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Elliott, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 17 rebounds. Now that Boron knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
