Valor Christian dropped down to 12-8 on Wednesday, ending the team's five-game streak of wins. They came up short against  the Columbine Rebels, falling  8-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rebels this season, as they also lost their prior matchup  9-6  back in September.
  Kendall Ferguson was cooking despite her team's loss,   going 1-for-2 with one  home run. She has been hot recently, having  posted  at least one  home run the last three times she's  played.
As for Columbine, their win was  their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which  pushed their record up to 14-5. The  home  victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 13.7 runs over those games.
On Columbine's side,  Addison Swenby spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned  (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up seven Ks.
 At the plate,  Melanie Newcomb was  incredible,  going a perfect 2-for-2 with two  runs, one  stolen base,  and two  RBI. That's the most  runs  she has posted since back in September. The team also got some help courtesy of  Olivia Keiter, who  went 2-for-4 with two  runs, two  doubles,  and one  stolen base.
