Make it eight blowout wins for the Notre Dame Prep Saints this season. They breezed by Mountain Pointe on the road to the tune of 66-27. With Notre Dame Prep ahead 44-13 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Notre Dame Prep's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Pautz, who scored 17 points along with two steals and two blocks. Olivia Frankel was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with three steals.
Despite the defeat, Mountain Pointe saw an underclassman step up: Nia Rowe scored 15 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rowe has scored all season.
Mountain Pointe struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Notre Dame Prep racked up 16 assists.
Notre Dame Prep pushed their record up to 14-3 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Mountain Pointe, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-14.
Notre Dame Prep will be playing at home against Cactus Shadows at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Cactus Shadows will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 116th, while Notre Dame Prep is ranked 20th). As for Mountain Pointe, they will head out on the road to face off against Higley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Higley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Thursday.
