The Canyon View Jaguars will be playing at home against the O'Connor Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Canyon View stacked a 14th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Verrado 61-18 on the road. The victory was nothing new for Canyon View as they're now sitting on five straight.
Canyon View can attribute much of their success to Jaylin Williams, who scored 15 points along with two steals, and Aaliyah Rogers, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals. It was the first time this season that Williams scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Jaila Flowers, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, O'Connor was able to grind out a solid win over Sunnyslope on Monday, taking the game 67-55. The victory made it back-to-back wins for O'Connor.
The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Audrey Bhesania and Maggie Luba. Bhesania had a great game and scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Meanwhile, Luba was balling out in the loss, scoring 19 points along with two steals.
Canyon View is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 21-4 record this season. As for O'Connor, their victory bumped their record up to 16-8.
Tuesday's matchup is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Canyon View have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 37.6% of their threes per game. However, it's not like O'Connor struggles in that department as they've made 41% of their threes this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
