The Conestoga Christian Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Mount Calvary Christian Chargers at 6:00 p.m. Conestoga Christian is no doubt hoping to put an end to a 12-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Friday, Conestoga Christian was the victim of a tough 51-25 defeat at the hands of the Gryphons. Conestoga Christian was down 38-13 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Despite the loss, Conestoga Christian had strong showings from Michaela Mcgahey, who scored three points along with two steals, and Aubrey Weaver, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, after a string of eight wins, Mount Calvary Christian's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of Meadowbrook Christian by a score of 44-41. Mount Calvary Christian found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and post eight fewer assists than your opponent.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Lilah Martin, who scored six points along with seven steals and six rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted five or more steals the last three times she's played. Kylie Masters was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five steals.
Conestoga Christian's loss dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Mount Calvary Christian, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-4.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Conestoga Christian have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 24.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Mount Calvary Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.8 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Conestoga Christian suffered a grim 54-28 defeat to the Chargers in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Conestoga Christian was down 37-14.
