Two dominant guards in Cameron Sampson and JUSTIN PERRY are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Thomas Jefferson Vikings's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Amelia County Raiders at 7:15 p.m. on February 5th. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard on Monday.
Thomas Jefferson was handed a 27-point defeat in their previous outing, but they didn't let that bad energy affect their game against the Wildcats on Saturday. Thomas Jefferson skirted past the Wildcats 57-55. The win was just what Thomas Jefferson needed coming off of a 71-44 loss in their prior contest.
Meanwhile, Amelia County had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.2 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 82-57 margin over Lunenburg Central. Amelia County has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 21 points or more this season.
Amelia County can attribute much of their success to JAIDEN SQUIRE, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds and five steals, and PERRY, who shot 4-for-10 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 28 points and ten rebounds. PERRY is crushing the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. ANAIS KING was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds.
Thomas Jefferson is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-10 record this season. As for Amelia County, they pushed their record up to 13-5 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Everything came up roses for Thomas Jefferson against the Raiders in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 66-34 victory. Will Thomas Jefferson repeat their success, or do the Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
