Camarillo and Moorpark are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2022, but likely not for long. The Scorpions will be playing in front of their home fans against the Musketeers at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Camarillo had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Fillmore on Saturday. The Scorpions put the hurt on the Flashes with a sharp 10-1 win. That nine run margin sets a new team best for the Scorpions this season.
Luc Ross looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Camarillo got a massive performance out of Brayden Smith, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave Smith a new career-high. Ryder Morehouse was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Camarillo hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 2-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Moorpark entered their tilt with Thousand Oaks on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Lancers 9-2.
Tanner Stotts looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
At the plate, Taylor Busch was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Kresge, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.
Camarillo has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-13 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Moorpark, their win bumped their record up to 10-8.
Camarillo came out on top in a nail-biter against Moorpark when the teams last played back in March, sneaking past 5-3. Do the Scorpions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Musketeers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
