Marin Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brady Stewart, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one double. Stewart has become a key player for Marin Academy: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-2 otherwise.
Meanwhile, Stuart Hall is still undefeated this season after their matchup against Terra Linda on Wednesday, but Terra Linda came as close as anyone has to beating them. Stuart Hall came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against Terra Linda. While the Knights didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Alex Heinicke made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. He has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last 12 times he's played.
In other batting news, Dominic Gutierrez was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Those hits marked the first that he got this season.
Stuart Hall hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Terra Linda struck out eight times.
Marin Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Stuart Hall, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-0.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Marin Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .522. However, it's not like Stuart Hall struggles in that department as they've averaged .518. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Marin Academy skirted past Stuart Hall 6-4 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Marin Academy since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
