Video: Top 10 HS Prospects - 2018 MLB Draft Expect many from this year's Underclass All-American team to join these guys chasing the dream.
Three players who could be top 10 draft picks in the Major League Baseball Draft when their turn comes around top this year's MaxPreps Underclass All-American Teams.
Junior Player of the Year — Bobby Witt Jr., Colleyville Heritage (Colleyville, Texas)Son of former Major League Bobby Witt Sr., the younger Witt earned offensive Player of the Year honors in the Dallas area and was also a Texas baseball coaches association All-State player. He also earned a spot on the MaxPreps All-American first team and could be the No. 1 high school player chosen in next year's MLB draft.
Sophomore Player of the Year — Jared Jones, La Mirada (Calif.)
The team to watch in the Southern Section of California over the next two years is La Mirada and the reason why is Jones. The Matadores lost just four times last year, went undefeated in the Suburban League (12-0) and reached the finals of the Scott Boras Tournament.
Jones was a factor at the plate and on the mound for La Mirada and is ranked No. 3 in the nation in the class of 2020 by Perfect Game.
Freshman Player of the Year — Blaze Jordan, DeSoto Central (Southaven, Miss.)
Committed to Mississippi State at the age of 13, Jordan has been on the radar of many scouts due to his 500-foot monster home run shots he's blasted in Power Showcase home run derbies. He lived up to the hype this year, leading DeSoto Central to a Class 6A state championship and earning All-State honors as a freshman.
Following are the MaxPreps All-American Underclass Teams. The teams are chosen based on a combination of year-end awards, statistics and college potential.
