The Berlin Redcoats will head out to face off against the Newington Nor'easters at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Berlin will come into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
Berlin's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat RHAM 48-0. That 48 point margin sets a new team best for the Redcoats this season.

Berlin got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Cody Puzio out in front who threw for 100 yards and four touchdowns on only six passes, and also rushed for 30 yards. What's more, Puzio racked up 149.3 passer rating, the most he's had since back in September of 2024. Carmine Rio was in the mix too, providing Berlin with three TDs.
Meanwhile, Newington was able to grind out a solid win over Farmington last Friday, taking the game 18-7. The victory continues a trend for the Nor'easters in their matchups with the River Hawks: they've now won three in a row.
Berlin better keep an eye on Josiah Sims. He was instrumental in Newington's win, rushing for 168 yards and a pair of scores. With that strong performance, Sims is now averaging an impressive 104.4 rushing yards per game.
Newington didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Farmington to a completion percentage of just 34.6%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from two players: Christian Bilbraut and Lavonne Jr. Ellison, who each logged two passes deflected. Newington hasn't an opponent to post a completion percentage of 0.43 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Newington's defense didn't let Mason Kiniry, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for 3.5 sacks. David Garolrfo refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. Geronimo Ortiz got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Berlin's record is now 5-0. As for Newington, their record now sits at 4-1.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Berlin has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 194.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Newington struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 169.4 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Berlin took their win against Newington when the teams last played back in November of 2023 by a conclusive 38-16 score. Will the Redcoats repeat their success, or do the Nor'easters have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
