The McGuffey Highlanders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They fell 44-36 to Brownsville. The game was a 24-24 toss-up at halftime, but McGuffey couldn't quite close it out.
Despite the loss, McGuffey still got an impressive performance from Madison Gaso, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gaso has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Faith Ealy, who scored three points along with six steals.
McGuffey has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-6 record this season. As for Brownsville, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McGuffey has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Cougars on February 5th. Brownsville will take on the Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
