The Spring-Ford Rams scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Sunday. The stars were shining brightly for them in a 71-54 victory over Neumann-Goretti. Given Spring-Ford's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Neumann-Goretti is ranked 81st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Spring-Ford got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Aaliyah Solliday out in front who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and five assists. That's the first time this season that Solliday scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Anna Azzara, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Neumann-Goretti lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Carryn Easley , who scored 13 points along with six assists and six rebounds. Those six assists set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Amya Scott, who scored 13 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
The win was the fourth in a row for Spring-Ford, bringing their record for this year to 4-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.5 points per game. As for Neumann-Goretti, their loss dropped their record down to 3-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Spring-Ford is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Owen J. Roberts at 6:45 p.m. on December 19th. As for Neumann-Goretti, they will take on Westtown at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
