Alisal entered their tilt with North Salinas on Monday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They rang in the new year with a 2-0 win over the North Salinas Vikings. Give the Trojans' defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Marbella Birruete and Stephanie Zarate scored both of Alisal's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 11 goals.

The victory got Alisal back to even at 4-4. As for North Salinas, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-6.

Alisal will head out on the road to face off against North Monterey County at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for North Salinas, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Carmel at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
