The Piner Prospectors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They were dealt a 87-29 defeat at the hands of Rancho Cotate. Piner has not had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Nina Boblitt was nothing short of spectacular for Rancho Cotate: she almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Boblitt has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Xenia Zabaneh, who scored 12 points along with four steals.
Piner has not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season. As for Rancho Cotate, their win bumped their record up to 13-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Piner will challenge the Grizzlies at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Napa is on an eight-game streak of home losses, the Prospectors a six-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. Rancho Cotate will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on February 1st. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in California (Santa Rosa is ranked 497th, while the Cougars are ranked 472nd).
