After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, the Rockwood Rockets were happy to have found some success on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged Ferndale out 43-40. That's another feather in the cap for Rockwood, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
When it comes to explaining why Ferndale lost, one person who can't be blamed is Deajah Chatman. Despite the final result, she scored 23 points along with eight rebounds. Those 23 points set a new season-high mark for her. Abby Barley was another key contributor, scoring four points.
Rockwood's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Ferndale, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rockwood will take on Northern at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Northern presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Rockwood in their respective states (Northern is ranked 114th in Maryland, while Rockwood is ranked 387th in Pennsylvania). As for Ferndale, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Harmony Area at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Harmony Area is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
