Baseball Game Preview: Lodi Flames vs. Rodriguez Mustangs

For the second straight game, Lodi will face off against Rodriguez. The Flames will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. Lodi is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.

Lodi is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They walked away with a 7-3 victory over Rodriguez.

Landon Beasley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed seven innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Rylan Takahashi was incredible, going 4-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlie Casazza, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Lodi hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in eight consecutive contests.

Lodi pushed their record up to 23-8 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Rodriguez, with the defeat, they broke their 13-game winning streak and moved their record to 21-8.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Lodi has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Rodriguez struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
