Zachary Romeo was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.
In other batting news, Dylan Eddings was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one double. Devon Parrish also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Vanden came out on top against Dixon on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run fifth inning. The Vikings put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 12-2 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Vikings.
Like Vacaville Christian, Vanden also got a great game from a two-way player: Ryan Cahalan. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Cahalan was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mariano Gonzalez, who went 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Jackson Armstrong was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Vanden's victory bumped their record up to 10-15. As for Vacaville Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 14-5.
