The Serra Cavaliers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Saint Joseph Jesters at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Serra is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
Serra can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent contest on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 51-15 victory over Mary Star of the Sea on the road. The win was just what Serra needed coming off of a 46-24 loss in their prior match.
Serra's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jadah Foster, who scored nine points along with six steals. Another player making a difference was Mariah Lewis, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Saint Joseph's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They were dealt a 49-22 defeat at the hands of St. Monica. Saint Joseph has not had much luck with St. Monica recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the loss, Saint Joseph saw an underclassman step up: Olivia Martinez dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Martinez's trending in the right direction, as she's improved his point production for three games straight.
Serra's victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-12. As for Saint Joseph, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-9 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Serra have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 20.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Saint Joseph struggles in that department as they've been averaging 36.5 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
