After flying high against the Castle Park Trojans last Thursday, the Tri-City Christian Eagles came back down to earth. Tri-City Christian fell to Sage Creek 47-43. While losing is never fun, Tri-City Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 784th, while Sage Creek is ranked 332nd).
Tri-City Christian's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Katie Busch, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds, and Talia Anthony who scored 18 points along with three steals. Anthony scored a full 41.9% of Tri-City Christian's points, the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Tri-City Christian's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Sage Creek, their win was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tri-City Christian will challenge San Pasqual at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Sage Creek and La Costa Canyon will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. La Costa Canyon is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
