Calexico has won four straight games at home, while Southwest EC has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will welcome the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Calexico 3, Southwest EC 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
While Calexico's win against Holtville wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bulldogs had just enough and edged out the Vikings 4-3 on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won four in a row.

Jose Ortega made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Calexico got a great performance from David Lara as he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Lara has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances.
Ortega wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Randy Baez, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Another was Joshua Apodaca, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Southwest EC got the win against Palo Verde Valley last Friday by a conclusive 11-5. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.
Like Calexico, Southwest EC also got a great game from a two-way player: Cole Redden. On the mound, he pitched seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. Redden was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Jose Salcido was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Luis Mojica was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one triple.
Southwest EC was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .357 or higher in seven consecutive games.
Southwest EC is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-3 record this season. As for Calexico, their win bumped their record up to 19-3-1.
Calexico suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Southwest EC when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
