Softball Recap: Roosevelt Wins Going Away Against Rifle

Roosevelt had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Rifle on Friday. The Roughriders were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over the Bears. The Roughriders have beaten the Bears the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Bears has come to flipping the script.

Roosevelt got a great performance from Kenzie Maddox as she pitched six innings while giving up five earned runs off five hits. What's more, Maddox posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in August.

At the plate, Roz Muguerza was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in September. The team also got some help courtesy of Mandi Linder, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

Roosevelt always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .585. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rifle only posted an OBP of .259.

Roosevelt's record is now 16-8. As for Rifle, they moved to 18-5 with that defeat, which also ended their 13-game winning streak.

Roosevelt wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 18-3 loss against Palmer Ridge on the 17th. As for Rifle, they have also already played their next contest, a 14-3 win against Pueblo East on the 17th.
