Oscar Zamora Hernandez and Jesse Caballero were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Zamora Hernandez tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Caballero struck out 11 batters over 5.2 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Zamora Hernandez also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Northridge Academy is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 0-4 otherwise. At bat, Zamora Hernandez scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3, while Caballero scored four runs and stole four bases while going 4-for-4. Caballero has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last four times he's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alberto Zamora, who scored three runs and stole four bases while going 1-for-4. Angel Solis was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.
Northridge Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, Reseda entered their tilt with Sherman Oaks CES on Friday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Knights.
Like Northridge Academy, Reseda also got a great game from a two-way player: DON BARAJAS. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. BARAJAS was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
BARAJAS wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was ESTEVAN LIMON, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Reseda now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Northridge Academy, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Northridge Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Reseda struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 11.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Northridge Academy might still be hurting after the 6-0 defeat they got from Reseda in their previous matchup back in March of 2019.
