Alcaraz has been hot recently, having posted ten or more rebounds the last 14 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gianna Benitez, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 17 rebounds.
Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but GALA had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Panthers 54-17 at home. GALA's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
GALA's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Lauren Pang-Le, who scored 13 points, and Leland Holleman, who scored 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Holleman has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Elissa Arnold, who scored six points.
University Pathways Medical Magnet is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-16 record this season. As for GALA, their win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-9.
