The Rio Linda Knights will face off against the El Camino Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Rio Linda is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Rio Linda made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Destiny Christian Academy, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Rio Linda blew past Destiny Christian Academy 13-2 on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Knights needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.
Jason Figueroa was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.
In other batting news, Ayden Crawford was incredible, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. DJ Lloyd was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Rio Linda was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for El Camino's offense. They lost 11-0 to Sutter on Friday. The Eagles' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.
El Camino saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Charlie Snyder, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Rio Linda has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. El Camino's loss dropped their record down to 3-6.
Rio Linda's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's game. Rio Linda has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.6 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for El Camino, though, as they've been averaging only 0.6 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Rio Linda continue to outrun the ball?
Rio Linda couldn't quite get it done against El Camino when the teams last played back in March of 2024 as they fell 7-4. Will Rio Linda have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
