The Aptos Mariners won the last time they faced the Scotts Valley Falcons, and things went their way on Thursday too. Aptos strolled past Scotts Valley with points to spare, taking the game 50-35. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Aptos.
Leading Aptos to victory were Abby Sherwood and Gabby Wickham. Sherwood scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and four blocks, while Wickham scored 19 points along with five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Laurel Southall, who scored five points along with seven rebounds.
Scotts Valley's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brooklyn Williams, who scored 14 points. Hanna Shehorn was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Aptos' victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-7. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Scotts Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 7-13.
Aptos will head out on the road to take on San Lorenzo Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. San Lorenzo Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 912th, while Aptos is ranked 426th). As for Scotts Valley, they will be playing at home against Harbor at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Harbor has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 14.
