While Taft's victory against South wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wildcats pulled ahead with a 35-34 photo finish over the Spartans on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won five in a row.

Taft's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alaysia Taylor, who posted nine points and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Alli Swearengin, who had four points and seven boards.

Taft's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for South, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Taft has already played their next game, a 61-19 victory against West on the 22nd. As for South, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 42-30 loss against Justin Garza on the 22nd.
