The More Knights will head out to challenge the Harker Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. More is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.
Last Thursday, More came up short against Fremont and fell 6-2. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Easton Selway made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Harker got the win against Jefferson on Thursday by a conclusive 13-3. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.
Mason Brooks made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Harker let Arturo Vilalta and Eaton Cao run wild. Vilalta got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Cao went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those two hits gave Cao a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Shaurya Jain, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Harker always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Harker has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for More, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.
Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. More has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .437. However, it's not like Harker struggles in that department as they've averaged .464. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went More's way against Harker when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as More made off with an 11-2 win. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
