Victory Christian Academy is 0-3 against Point Arena since April of 2024 but things could change on Tuesday. The Eagles will square off against the Pirates at 4:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Victory Christian Academy barely beat Laytonville the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles blew past the Warriors 13-3 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Brett Hernandez made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Victory Christian Academy is 4-2 when Hernandez allows two or fewer earned runs, but 0-5 otherwise. Hernandez was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Victory Christian Academy let Payton Gentry and Tyler Hadley run wild. Gentry got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Hadley went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most doubles Hadley has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was David Mendoza, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Victory Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Point Arena had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 16-4 margin over the Bearcats. Considering the Pirates have won five contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Jose Bernal was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, Point Arena got a massive performance out of Jimmy Owens, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. Cody Chavez was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Point Arena's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.3 runs over those games. As for Victory Christian Academy, their record is now 4-7.
Victory Christian Academy suffered a grim 8-1 defeat to Point Arena in their previous matchup on April 11th. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
