Roosevelt secured a 54-49 W over the Wildcats on Friday. Given Roosevelt's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 289th, while the Wildcats are ranked 829th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Roosevelt got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Nevaeh Reese out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Reese has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Nyleigh Gregory, who scored 20 points.
Despite the loss, Sunnyside still got an impressive performance from Ruby Cartwright, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Cartwright hasn't dropped below two steals for 20 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Keyera Dickson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Roosevelt has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Sunnyside, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-16.
Roosevelt will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hornets at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Sunnyside, they will head out on the road to square off against the Highlanders at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. McLane is on a four-game streak of home losses, the Wildcats a six-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change.
