The Simi Valley Pioneers will take on the El Dorado Golden Hawks in a tournament on Monday. Simi Valley's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so El Dorado's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Simi Valley will head out to face El Dorado after giving up their first home loss of the season on Friday. Simi Valley fell just short of Royal by a score of 2-1. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Pioneers couldn't push the score so high this time.

Jackson Goshorn was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
At the plate, Simi Valley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Quentin McGahan, who scored a run while going 1-for-4. Andrew Nicklaus also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, El Dorado had already won three in a row and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Sea Kings with a sharp 6-0 win. The Golden Hawks not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since February 21st.
El Dorado also got a great performance from Jacob Alvarez as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Alvarez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brady Abner, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Diego Gonzalez was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.
El Dorado was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
El Dorado's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.4 runs on average over those games. As for Simi Valley, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-3.
