The Harvard-Westlake Wolverines waltzed into their game on Saturday with three straight wins but they left with four. They strolled past Hamilton with points to spare, taking the game 52-37.
Harvard-Westlake's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Deana Thompson, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds. Thompson is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Valentina Guerrero, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Harvard-Westlake's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-13. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.8 points per game. As for Hamilton, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harvard-Westlake will take on Chaminade at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chaminade knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Harvard-Westlake likes a good challenge. As for Hamilton, Hamilton and Palisades will face off at 4:30 p.m. on January 17th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
