The Mohawk Area Warriors fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Aquinas Academy Crusaders on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 77-67 to the Crusaders. While losing is never fun, Mohawk Area can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while Aquinas Academy is ranked third).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Aquinas Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Violet Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 16 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Johnson has scored at least 25% of Aquinas Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Emily Fisher, who scored 19 points along with 6 assists and 5 steals.
Mohawk Area's defeat dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Aquinas Academy, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
Mohawk Area will look to defend their home court on December 13th against Beaver at 7:30 p.m. As for Aquinas Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Seton LaSalle at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
