Bruning-Davenport/Shickley relied on the efforts of LeTrell Houser, who shot 73% from the field to rack up 17 points and eight rebounds, and Levi Kamler, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten boards. Kamler also grabbed four steals, which is notable because the Eagles are 2-1 when he posts at least three steals, but 2-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Kempf, who posted nine points.
Bruning-Davenport/Shickley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. They are 2-1 when they hit their own glass that hard.
Meanwhile, McCool Junction entered their matchup against Deshler on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Mustangs fell 60-49 to the Dragons.
Bruning-Davenport/Shickley will have to contain Carson McDonald as he made an impact in McCool Junction's last game. He went 11-for-24 on his way to 27 points along with seven boards and six assists. McDonald's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 21 points. Dylan Gonnerman was another key player, shooting 50% from the field en route to 12 points and six rebounds.
Bruning-Davenport/Shickley's victory bumped their record up to 4-9. As for McCool Junction, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Bruning-Davenport/Shickley has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 29.5 boards per game. However, it's not like McCool Junction struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.7 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
