Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Neodesha). They took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 37-6 win over Fredonia/Elk Valley. The Blue Streaks haven't had any issues with Fredonia/Elk Valley recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
It was another big night for Cole Ramey, who picked up 97 receiving yards and two TDs, and also rushed for 116 yards and one score on only five carries. Those two receiving touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Neodesha also got a significant boost from Camryn White, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 113 yards.
Neodesha didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Fredonia/Elk Valley to a completion percentage of just 47.6%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from three players: J'Vonte White, Dejay Schlegel, and Colten Babcock, who each logged one passes deflected. Neodesha wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 39.3%.
Neodesha's defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: White, Babcock, and Jacob Novotny, who each picked up one sack apiece. White was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, making seven total tackles (5.0 for loss), and defending one pass.
When it comes to explaining why Fredonia/Elk Valley lost, don't look at Ethan Bryant. Despite the final result, he picked up 90 receiving yards and one touchdown.
Neodesha's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Fredonia/Elk Valley, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-5.
Looking ahead, Neodesha will challenge Parsons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Fredonia/Elk Valley, they will take on Caney Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bullpups' defense has only allowed 10.6 points per game this season, so Fredonia/Elk Valley's offense will have their work cut out for them.
